Too many don’t know where to begin, so they never take the first step. Too many work for 45 years only to retire and pick up another job just to make ends meet. Too many people never experience true financial freedom because they’ve been taught that a paycheck is their only way to survive.
But I’m here to change that! I’m here to dispell those myths that Investing in real estate is reserved for the wealthy. I’m here to share with you the experiences that I’ve had and the mistakes that I’ve made, to help pave the way for you be a successful real estate investor.
THE JOURNEY
How it Started
Growing up, I knew that the typical 9-to-5 grind wasn’t for me. Watching my father, a dedicated accountant, drive an hour to work each way, I admired his commitment and dedication to providing for his family —but I also saw the rigid structure of a job that dictated his time. There were a few weekends that he’d bring me along to help with admin tasks, and while I cherished those moments with him, one thing was clear: I craved flexibility. I wanted to be able to work from anywhere, control my income, and think outside the box to create wealth beyond just a paycheck.
Fast forward to my early 20s—I had just graduated from college and relocated from Los Angeles to Miami, following my parents (because us islanders? We stick together!). One day, my father told me about a condo for sale in Fort Lauderdale. It was already rented, and his friend was selling it for $36,000. He casually suggested that I take a look.
So there I was, 22 years old, standing in a tenant-occupied condo, speaking to a husband and wife in their 60s who had been renting the unit for years. I asked, “Would you be okay with me being your landlord?” (I had no clue what I was doing.) I toured the place, went home, and later that night, my father asked, “Did you see it?” “Do you want to buy it?”
My mind started racing: "Buy it?" I thought. Uhmm...
- How much will I have to pay?
- How will I manage tenants?
- What if something breaks?
- What if they don’t pay rent?
- What if they move out?
- Will a bank even give me a loan for this?!
I had all the same fears and doubts that you probably have right now. But instead of letting them hold me back, I took action.
- I called a friend who did mortgages and got pre qualified.
- I put down $6,000.
- The condo rented for $900/month.
- The mortgage was $330/month.
- The HOA fee was $220/month.
- After expenses, I was pocketing $450/month—passively!
That’s when it hit me!
I just made $450/month from a one-time $6,000 investment. This was real. This was powerful.
From that moment on, I was hooked. I repeated that process for 20+ years, buying long-term and short-term rentals across four states—many of them managed from a distance. I built a life of financial freedom while traveling the world, getting married, starting a family, and being blessed with three brilliant, bold little girls.

- Go to school.
- Get a job.
- Work for 45 years.
- Retire and hope you have enough saved to live comfortably. And if you don't, just get another job and work till you take your last breath.
